About

I am an avid Mario Kart player. Besides, I am a physical geographer specializing in soil science and spatial statistics. In the early beginnings, I was an enthusiastic hunter for larger numbers concerning the quality and spacial extent of the soil information layer through the use of fancy sounding methods like CRUISE and QUEST. Currently, my (research) interests focus has shifted towards a deeper understanding of Why, in the use of machine learning approaches. Thus, my activities focus on soil-landscape relationships accompanied by a detailed analysis of driving factors to gain a better understanding of the processes and mechanisms that affect our soils. Moreover, I investigate new frontiers of feature engineering in soil science by e.g. analysing spatial scales and their teleconnection. As a freelance consultant, I accompany, support and advise companies and authorities in breaking new ground in the digital handling of environmental information.
